Inside the Book:
How did your father being an alcoholic affect your life?
I always told my mother it didn’t affect me. But that wasn’t true. Denying it wasn’t dealing with the issue.
Some people say that alcoholism is a sickness. If you believe that to be true, please explain why you feel it is a sickness?
It’s a habit that was formed and it’s a disease and a stronghold.
Statistics say that children of alcoholics often become alcoholics. How did you avoid becoming an alcoholic since you saw it displayed openly?
Because I lived it and I saw the destruction it can do and I didn’t want that to happen to my life.
You suffered physical, emotional and sexual abuse. How long did it take you to get to where you could talk about it, and what would you say to others in the same situation to help them move forward?
It took a very long time. I had blocked it out my memory until I gave my life to the Lord, and he healed me. The trauma gave me low self-esteem, and God had to deal with that too.
